Meet the people behind VizVet

Our team brings together experience in veterinary operations, data engineering, analytics, product development, and customer support. We work closely with veterinary organizations to understand the questions they need answered and build tools that make those answers easier to find.

Jim DeLano

Veterinarian, Founder & CEO

Dr. Jim DeLano has spent his career combining veterinary medicine with better business management. He co-founded the practice that became Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center and later joined the UC Davis faculty to teach business and exam-room communication. At VizVet, he brings a veterinarian’s perspective to helping practices understand their numbers and make better decisions. At home, he is managed by Fiona the Chihuahua and Wesley the orange tabby.

Katie Probst

Co-Founder, Chief Data Analyst

Katie began her career as a Certified Veterinary Technician before discovering a talent for making stubborn databases behave. She later supported Cornerstone at IDEXX and built custom reports for the world’s largest nonprofit veterinary hospital. At VizVet, she turns complicated veterinary data into answers people can actually use. She also knows more about veterinary databases than most databases would prefer.

Ashton DeLano

Co-Founder and Chief Data Platform Engineer

Ashton began his career in Management Consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton, where he developed experience using data to solve complex problems and support better decision-making for clients including The Treasury Department, The US Navy, and FEMA. He holds an MS in Data Science from The George Washington University and brings a background in analytics, technology, and team leadership. At VizVet, he applies his skills and experience to transforming veterinary data into clear, practical insights.

Ethan DeLano

Co-Founder

Ethan grew up in veterinary medicine, hauling dog food at age 10 and building management reports by 14. His background spans technology, finance, operations, and entrepreneurship, supported by studies in management information systems and economics at Boston University. At VizVet, he specializes in untangling complicated business and technical problems. Outside work, he has competed in skydiving, taught scuba diving, and is currently outnumbered by children and pets.

Karin Draughn

Chief of Operations & Staff

Karin began her career in the Army as a public affairs journalist before moving into technology project management. Her background includes projects in robotics, beverage production, digital media, and public utilities, and she is PMP and Scrum Master certified. At home near Seattle, her lab and goldendoodle remain committed to their ongoing, unauthorized landscaping redesign.
